Who we are

Valor High School opened in 2024 to meet a clear need in the Waltham community: too many students were falling through the cracks and needed a different, more flexible way to finish and graduate from high school. A growing number of students—young adults—may work significant hours, raise children, care for family members, experience anxiety in a large school environment, or manage other responsibilities that make a traditional five-day, full-day high school schedule difficult. Valor HS provides a smaller, more flexible educational environment so these responsibilities don't have to end their education.
OUR CORE VALUES
Our Foundation for Growth
-
Valor High School is a community of new beginnings where strong relationships, meaningful learning, and personalized pathways support students. Grounded in equity, care, and connection, we prepare every student for graduation, career, college, and beyond.
We provide students who need an alternative to the traditional high school structure with a flexible, supportive path to a diploma while helping them build the academic skills and confidence to continue their education, pursue meaningful work, or both.
-
Our Vision is for our students to be successful. First, this means we have an obligation to give students the opportunity to continue their education, earn a high school diploma, and gain skills that will help them succeed moving forward. Yet we want more for our students. At Valor High School, we work together as a team of educators, mentors, teachers, and advocates, building relationships with our students and families, and working with them so that when our students graduate, they fully recognize their own strengths, believe in their academic abilities, and see themselves as valuable members of their communities who can make decisions, contribute, and have an impact.
Relationships are paramount. Students learn best when adults know them, support them, and connect them to others. Through personalized instruction and support, we aim to help students build the academic skills, resilience, independence, and confidence they need to keep learning and pursue employment, career training, college, or other opportunities after graduation.
Our vision is both immediate and long-term: to help students earn the diploma they are working toward while preparing them to thrive beyond Valor.
